This will depend on several factors.
1. Your personal choice and the interior design of your home.
2. The type of chimney or flue system (or lack of it) in your home
3. The intended purpose of the fire - eg primarily decorative or a working heating appliance
It is probably worth in the initial stages just looking around at different designs and checking out what is available. Then when you have a concept in mind, talk to a reputable showroom and work out whether your ideal fireplace is feasible to install in your home. Don't be discouraged if the initial response is negative as there are often alternative solutions for different flue systems that may work equally well and still give the desired effect.
